Abstract

A new species, Anthrenus (Anthrenus) mahieae (Coleoptera: Dermestidae: Megatominae), from California, U.S.A. is described and compared with Anthrenus lepidus LeConte. Images of habitus (dorsal and ventral), scale structure, antenna, aedeagus, and (male) sternite IX are presented. Anthrenus mahieae differs from A. lepidus in the structure of the genitalia, the structure of the antennal club, and the brightness of the pale patches of scales on the outer pronotal angles and ventrites.
