Abstract

We report the first documented rearing of Brachys fasciferus Schwarz (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), from a leaf mine collected on southern live oak (Fagaceae: Quercus virginiana Mill.) in North Carolina. This species was previously only known from adult specimens collected in the United States as far north as Georgia. Whereas all other Nearctic Brachys Dejean species that have been reared overwinter as larvae or pupae, we show that B. fasciferus overwinters as adults
