Abstract
A new species of pygmy grasshopper, Paratettix alpinus (Orthoptera: Tetrigidae), with distinctive form and color pattern is described. Found along streams in the mountain areas of West Texas, this is the frst pygmy grasshopper to be described from the USA in over 60 years.
